Indonesia currently produces 6.8 million tons of plastic waste per year, yet only about 10% of it ending up in recycling centres. The effects are becoming more apparent as rivers and oceans become clogged up with plastic waste.<\/p>\n

About 625,000 tons of annual plastic waste ends up in the oceans. Data from Nature Communications revealed that four of Indonesia\u2019s rivers \u2013 Brantas, Solo, Serayu and Progo \u2013 rank among the 20 most polluted rivers in the world.<\/p>\n

Various industries including business sectors contribute plastic waste. The trend of online shopping and the growth of the food &amp, beverage industry have made things worse where many business owners use plastic as their packaging. Many new business owners underestimate the importance of their waste management and recycling strategy. With a good strategy, business owners can reduce waste disposal cost, increase a company’s reputation toward green sustainability, and get another revenue stream.<\/p>\n
